Thinking Abortion?
Thinking Abortion?

At The Keim Centers, we understand that your choice regarding your pregnancy can be difficult.  In fact, we recognize this may be one of the most important decisions of your life.  The choice is yours, but you are not alone.

Questions To Consider

How can I be sure I’m pregnant?
We offer FDA-approved, laboratory-quality pregnancy tests.  If your test is positive, you can be evaluated by one of our nurses to receive confirmation of pregnancy by ultrasound – all at no charge to you.  Our medical clinic provides ultrasounds for reasons of confirming a viable uterine pregnancy, cardiac activity, and approximate gestational age.

I’ve heard of miscarriage.  Could I be having one of those?
A positive pregnancy test alone should never be used in determining an abortion decision, as it’s important to know that 15-20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.*  Additionally, some pregnancies occur outside of the uterus, also known as an ectopic pregnancy.

You may not need to have an abortion.  The best way to determine if you have a viable uterine pregnancy is to have an ultrasound.  An ultrasound will help determine how far along your pregnancy is and will also determine if your pregnancy is viable through the presence of a fetal heartbeat.

What are the types of abortion procedures?  Which one would I have to use?
Well, how far along are you?  The most important factor in determining which abortion procedure you would qualify for, the type of anesthesia available, the cost of the procedure and potential health risks is how far a woman is into her pregnancy.

Types of abortion procedures include:
  • Methotrexate (MTX)
  • Abortion Pill / Mifeprex / Mifepristone (RU-486)
  • Suction Dilation and Curettage (Suction D&C)
  • Dilation and Evacuation (D&E)
  • Dilation and Extraction (D&X) / Intact Dilation and Extraction (IDE)
  • Intra-cardiac Injection
  • Prostaglandin

An ultrasound will help determine how far along your pregnancy is and will also determine if your pregnancy is viable through the presence of a fetal heartbeat.  Call The Keim Center today for a free ultrasound consultation – our all-woman staff is here to help you.  During your visit, you will learn how far along you are and the associated risks for the procedure(s) you are considering.
